She has been a devoted knitter and seamstress since learning from her  mother at an early age. In 1997, she graduated with a BFA from  Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. She has been teaching fine  art and craft workshops since that time. In 2007 she left  her position as Studio Manager for the artists Mike and Doug Starn to  pursue her own work. Currently she teaches knitting, sewing and  spinning at Brooklyn General Store. Most recently she launched a line  of designer knitting patterns and luxury handspun yarns under the label  hellomello handspun. The experimental design lab is host to many creative experiments, and  most recently has been taken over by loads of fiber!  Humanely sourced&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 100%;"&gt;  wool, mohair, and silks are hand dyed by other artisans, and these are  carded into one of a kind ‘Laboratory Batts’. In addition to these  amazing fibers, the sky is the limit for other fibers added to the batts  - soysilk, corn fiber, and even tinsel and sewing scraps are used. “  Art Yarns by a Scientist’ utilize lab batts and&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 100%;"&gt; are spun usually thick and thin and &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 100%;"&gt; contain other fun add ins---sea shells, beads, and even &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size: 100%;"&gt;felted items. The experimental design lab is host to many creative experiments, and most recently has been taken over by loads of fiber!  Humanely sourced&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt; wool, mohair, and silks are hand dyed by other artisans, and these are carded into one of a kind ‘Laboratory Batts’. In addition to these amazing fibers, the sky is the limit for other fibers added to the batts - soysilk, corn fiber, and even tinsel and sewing scraps are used. “ Art Yarns by a Scientist’ utilize lab batts and&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt; are spun usually thick and thin and &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt; contain other fun add ins---sea shells, beads, and even &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:100%;"&gt;felted items.
